Timber
Made from some of the world’s finest hardwood, our timber boards have been engineered in such a way that they are able to sit directly over your existing sub-floors.
These boards require no sanding or polishing and simply glue or click together. With their stunning appearance, our timber coverings offer excellent resistance to day-to-day wear and tear and are easy to maintain.
Environment
The hardwoods used in our timber products are as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible. Material sustainability is crucial to the manufacturing process to allow for long term supply of a quality product, while minimising environmental impact. Thirty times as many trees are used to make solid timber boards compared to the amount used to produce the veneers of our timber boards.
Construction
Many timber floor coverings are produced using high quality heat cure adhesive technology to permanently fuse together three layers of timber. Optimum strength and extraordinary dimensional stability is achieved by fusing each layer in opposing grain directions. The top layer is treated with six coats of scratch-resistant UV lacquer for maximum durability. This layer is as re-coatable and re- sandable as most conventional solid floorboards. The bottom layer, made from plantation timbers, stabilises the overall construction and provides a durable and workable surface to ensure smooth installation.
Maintenance
- When cleaning laminates avoid using excessive amounts of water, always use a well rung out mop. Never use a steam mop or flood the floor with water or other liquid products.
- Wipe up spills and remove stains when they occur. - Sweep and vacuum often to remove loose dirt and grit that may leave marks when walked on.
- Use reputable floor cleaners, avoid soap, wax, oil or other household products, manufacturer recommended cleaning kits are available.
- Use protective mats at all exterior entrances to remove any grit or dirt from shoes before entering the home.
- Use felt protectors under all furniture and chair mats under chairs and castor wheels.
- Rearrange furniture and rugs periodically to allow your floor to age uniformly.
- Avoid gouging or scratching of the floor when moving heavy objects. Lift or slide them into position on sheets (hardboard or plywood).
- Avoid long periods of direct sunlight on the floor, particularly in the middle of the day (fading can be caused by ultraviolet light and heat from the sun). Draw your drapes or shades during periods of peak sun exposure.
- Avoid stiletto heels as they can pit and scratch.
